Bromeliad

Bromeliads can add an exotic touch to any home. Growing a Bromeliad as a houseplant is easy and they add interesting texture and color to any room.  They make a very special and unique gift.   Bromeliads tend to be easy to grow with vivid, long-lasting blooms & ornamental foliage. 

• Provide bright indirect light without direct sun exposure for an extended period of time.
• Maintain optimal humidity and keep in a well-ventilated area.
• Bromeliads love rich, organic matter in their soil, but must have good drainage. Use a cactus/succulent potting soil, with some orchid bark, worm castings, & compost.
• Keep the cup, which is center part aka the tank or reservoir, 1/4 to 1/2 full of water at most. Water thoroughly when soil is dry from surface.
• Use a balanced liquid fertilizer or an all-purpose orchid food diluted at 1/2 strength.
• Bromeliads only bloom once, but the flower lasts several months.
• Pups (new plants) will appear off the base of the mother plant. Remove the pup and replant when they start developing roots.
